Allen Strong: Americans, Steelheads To Honor Victims As Series Resumes
The Allen Americans and Idaho Steelheads will resume their Kelly Cup Playoffs series in Boise after Game 2 was postponed amid a mass shooting in Allen.
The community of Allen, Texas is still reeling from the tragic mass shooting that took the lives of eight people and injured seven others at an outlet mall Saturday.
In the immediate aftermath of the incident, Game 2 of the Kelly Cup Playoffs series between the Allen Americans and Idaho Steelheads was postponed in the interest of public safety as the Americans' home arena was less than a mile from the outlet mall. Americans players sheltered in place at the arena, while the Steelheads were staying at a hotel near the scene.
Amid heavy hearts, the series will resume Wednesday night back in Boise, with Games 2 through 5 now scheduled to take place at Idaho Central Arena. Games 6 and 7, if necessary, will shift back to the Credit Union of Texas Event Center in Allen.
For Wednesday night's game, both teams will be wearing "Allen Strong" helmet decals in support of the community and in honor of the victims.
