Michigan State hockey enters the NCAA Men's Hockey Tournament as the No. 4 overall seed. The Spartans are fresh off a riveting Big Ten Tournament Championship final, in which they defeated their in-state rival Michigan Wolverines, 5-4 in overtime. After a run of mediocre seasons, the Spartans went 24-9-3 on the season, having defeated Michigan four times out of the five games the programs played.

Western Michigan enters the NCAA Men's Hockey Tournament unranked, and was selected based on their No. 13 Pairwise ranking. But the Broncos come in with a strong resume, ascending battle-tested from the tough NCHC conference.
WMU hockey had wins over fellow Frozen Four selections Denver, the No. 3 overall seed, and Omaha. The Broncos come into the NCAA tournament as one of the most experienced teams as well, with 16 senior players on the roster.
Michigan State will play Western Michigan on March 29, at 5:00pm ET in Maryland Heights, Mo.
