Here come the Blue Hens! The University of Delaware announced Friday its plans to add a Division I women's ice hockey program to their athletic offerings starting in the 2025-26 season. The fledgling team will join College Hockey America, becoming the conference's seventh team and the 45th program in women's Division I hockey in the NCAA.

During the 2023-2024 college ice hockey season, there will be 64 NCAA Division I men’s programs across 21 states, led by New York and Massachusetts with 11 teams each.

With just three weeks left in the CHA regular season, Penn State is in the driver’s seat to win their second conference championship in the last three years. Mercyhurst is eight points back and currently tied for second with Syracuse, but has the most opportunity to change their luck, with two games in hand over the Nittany Lions and the Orange.

College Hockey America starts its 21st season of play this week. Once again, five teams will be part of the action.
