GOTHENBURG, Sweden – Team USA silenced a sold-out Scandinavium as they promised they would, earning a 6-2 win over Sweden to claim the gold medal at the 2024 IIHF World Junior Championship. Team USA got a pair of goals from Isaac Howard (TBL) in the second period and three insurance markers in the third period, including an empty-net goal from captain Rutger McGroarty (WPG) to secure the country's sixth gold medal.

Hockey Canada announced Thursday that Ottawa Senators draft pick Jorian Donovan has been added to the team's pre-tournament camp. The Brantford Bulldogs defenseman's addition comes after Nashville Predators first-rounder Tanner Molendyk went down with an apparent injury during Canada's pre-tournament game against Switzerland Friday.

After spending last week in Plymouth, Mich., for the entirety of the 2023 World Junior Summer Showcase, one of the most common questions I get is about how “Player X” looks. We did some game-by-game evals for select players over the course of the event, but that doesn’t always give you the full picture.

PLYMOUTH, Mich. -- The 2023 World Junior Summer Showcase was just that, a tremendous showcase of high-end talent with many of the best players under the age of 20 in the United States on hand. The U.S. split its roster in two, White and Blue, while trying to evaluate candidates for the 2024 IIHF World Junior Championship.

We’ve talked a lot about the depth of the 2023 NHL Draft for years and that there was a number of high-end prospects that were going to make a significant dent in their prospect pools. Perhaps there is no greater indication of the quality of the class in the sheer number of organizations that have drafted their new No. 1 prospect.

As we close the book on the 2023 NHL Draft, we’re already looking ahead to 2024. While we don’t have another Connor Bedard to track, we will have some exceptional talents that have potential to rise up the ranks throughout the season.
